I think the national security apparatus (broadly speaking) are essential workers.  I have no issue with the current (and incoming administration) or congress being vaccinated.  Imagine if a COVID-19 relief bill can't be passed because Congress can't get quorum because of an outbreak.  PLus, politicians of both parties getting publicly vaccinated will be good for instilling confidence in the vaccine.  How far down the chain that should go depends on how critical an office is for public safety.  So, probably ok if the dogcatcher is in the lower priority list.

I am not surprised that there are some stories coming about of people getting vaccine out of turn.  For example:

These stories are bad on the individual level, but hopefully will be few and far enough between that they will not be a major issue on a systemic level.
