My understanding is that the UK's recent regional lockdown is nominally due to concerns about the "new variant" that Boris Johnson and others say is more transmissible.   Does anyone have a sense of how truly concerning the higher transmissibility of this variant is?  Even if not significantly more transmissible, thought crossed my mind that this could be a useful marketing point for governments to ask citizens to double-down on SIP during the holidays.
