Has that sentence been struck?  When I go to that URL (I'm not a paid subscriber, so that may matter), I don't find that sentence (for instance, "58" occurs twice but not in such a sentence).  There was no data presented relevant to that claim.  The article was about the number of cases at the schools, not deaths in the community.
