There are only two players I know who medically retired; Hodson and Charlotte Brown. BobK may know of one or two more. Brown redshirted her first year, played one year, and then retired. Official PR about Brown was lingering injuries from high school. I believe she may also have had a congenital heart condition. They both received medical scholarships through graduation. A considerable cost; I don't know where that financial aid came from.
There was one player in program history who was kicked off the team with cause. She also got a scholarship (non-counter toward team) through graduation.
