If one wants to look for a silver lining, these cancellations may reinforce in some people's mind the idea that quarantine after being a "close contact" of a positive case is a real requirement, not a suggestion. Many jurisdictions are not even really trying to get people to do this any more. They are jusr warning them that they have been exposed and that they should be vigilant, whatever that means. If there are high profile examples of athletes doing the "right thing", even when it is very inconvenient to them personally, perhaps more people will start to cooperate.

I agree, but instead, what you see on Twitter is people frustrated over what seems to be draconian limitations by the city of Berkeley.
