I did run across a bar killing that was thought to be related to a LSU - Alabama football game a few years ago, and a killing related to whether a particular college basketball coach was considered good or not. Also a bar killing related to an arm wrestling match. (I did run across a fatal stabbing related to mask wearing that wasn't mentioned in the posted article.)It was hardly necessary to add that the argument occurred in a bar.
Killings too often happen over disagreements that seem inconsequential. I'm sure negligent homicides occur related to even more inconsequential things.
Sobering lists: Every homicide victim in Chicago (2018, 2019, 2020). Multiple (4+ victims) shootings in the US. NYC crime stats shows some dramatic increases & dramatic decreases 2020 vs 2019.
Whether you want to blame global warming, anxiety over COVID, lockdowns, economic consequences of the pandemic, increased polarization of the populace, Trump, "them" (for any value of "them"), or the alignment of the planets, there are some troubling numbers in there.
I feel like putting up a couple of polls:
1) Did you read any other articles besides the one in the original post?
2) Do you believe the disagreement was primarily about wearing/not wearing a mask, or something else?
I wouldn't give you two cents for all your fancy rules if, behind them, they didn't have a little bit of plain, ordinary, everyday kindness - yeah, and a little looking out for the other fella, too.
