I wonder how many schools will permanently drop football. Cal is in a of immense proportions hole financially so if so then they retire owning The Axe.

For UCB I really wonder if the Regents will keep paying that debt for the UC AD.   How binding was their commitment on that front?   I would think the UC will have far greater needs for their funds and access to loans, especially since the State of California will be unable to help too much with emergency funds.

I would guess most of those that have loaned money to the UCB AD will work with them on restructuring terms, the UCB AD has access to enough revenue in more stable times that terms for restructured debt should be possible.

Can the AD declare bankruptcy and reorganize the loan?
