Maybe if the SEC had started a "Save College Football -- Wear a Mask" campaign two months ago, we'd be in a position to re-open everything come August :(COVID19 is a pretty tough opponent, so I doubt that all would be OK if we had some PSAs by popular coaches.
However, those efforts would certainly have made our situation a bit better than it is today.
We don't really have 3-6 weeks to bend those curves BTW. The logistics for crafting a plan, any plan, will require at least 2-3 weeks. So we are between 0 and 2 weeks away. That path to games would need massive updates for gameday and travel logistics, testing protocols for the teams and their families, and a lot of behavior changes for American citizens.
That's way too much to expect in just a few weeks even if the USA was blessed with a science based strategy, consistent messaging and compelling PSAs from SEC celebs.
Bet on COVID to crush any plans, especially with the 15,000+ cases in Florida on Sunday (per worldometers.info)
