Agreed.  I remember the recruiting restrictions on the Harvard, Princeton and Stanford coaches.  Harvard needed to replace five outgoing seniors, but could only recruit two players.  The other three came from regular applicants.  Ditto Stanford.  Stanford had seven departing seniors but recruited just four players.  Princeton had six departing seniors, but could only offer "likely letters" (Ivy versions of LoI) to three players.
