Hospitalizations have been trending up rather quickly, not as steep as the initial stage in late March, early April, but pretty steep. Meanwhile ICU usage has been trending up as well, but not nearly as steeply.
I understand Imperial County has sent cases to hospitals in "neighboring counties" and "as far as the Bay Area". I know of no way of knowing whether those are 5 cases or 50 or more. I presume those just show up as "patients" in the other counties. That might have accounted for some of the spike in hospitalizations in SCC a week or so ago. (But it isn't the cause of the new cases.)
I expect King's County has been transferring ICU patients as well. (18% ICU availability)
