How can you say that democrats will tolerate any cost to the economy? Just about every state with a democratic governor is opening up to some extent. In California, you can get a haircut now in most counties, and guidelines for gyms reopening are coming soon.
If the economy continues to stink, it will be because people are voluntarily staying home, not because democrats have decided they're okay with a depression.
BTW, in politics, any statement that begins with "both sides" is probably half wrong.
