Two years ago point guard JJ Hones received a DUI for driving drunk in a golf cart on campus. Tara immediately removed her from the team.Â

Skov puts Shaw in a very difficult, almost untenable position. If Skov is allowed to continue with the team the comparison with Hones will be divisive. Shaw would be made to look sleazy in comparison with Tara. Issues of gender equality and unequal treatment will follow. Stanford's enemies would pounce on us for our hypocrisy for advertising ourselves as the "clean" school. The Skov example could weaken team discipline just as that wonderful entering class is coming in.
On the other hand, without knowing all the circumstances (or even his guilt) it is hard to say whether or not the cases are equivalent. JJ also had evasion and resisting arrest charges for failing to stop--though I don't know if that made a difference to Tara.
Is it too late for Skov to declare for the draft? That may become the best option.
Shaw does not have much time to act. Tara acted before JJ was even arrested. If this story drags out for a few days it will make Shaw look indecisive and further besmirch the team's clean image.
