[2006alum]

It would seem that when 750 New Yorkers are dying every day, a pissing match between the governor and the mayor of the largest city would not be in the best interest of everyone involved.

Prior to COVID-19, I had a distaste for both of them (strong distaste in the case of de Blasio). And honestly, as bad as this has been, their pissing matches over the MTA were much, much worse. As a recent NYC-to-SF retransplant, I'm thankful I will not need to find a third-party to vote for in order to find a candidate for mayor or governor that I am excited about. I think Cuomo has largely risen to the occasion after a really bad initial response to COVID-19, but there must be something about New York that brings out the bile in its politicians, because neither de Blasio, nor Cuomo, nor Trump seem able to decline any opportunity to engage in a pissing contest.
