The most common ELISA antibody test I order is probably the one for Epstein-Barr Virus, or EBV, the cause of "mono". I couldn't think of a respiratory virus we test for like this, but it isn't because it wouldn't work, just in clinical practice it doesn't matter much if you have a prior exposure to a URI or flu virus, and PCR based tests are better for acute infection.
