This is wrong and highly misleading.  As 2006alum noted, community spread has probably been going on longer in Italy.  While it's possible that there are intrinsic factors that make Italy more susceptible, the data does not bear that out.  We are almost exactly on Italy's trajectory so far--they just had a head start.
