Swerving back to the topic of this thread, the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament (colloquially known as "Indian Wells") has been cancelled due to Corid-19. For those unfamiliar with tennis, this is arguably the 7th biggest event of the tennis season, after the four majors, the Miami Open, and the year-end championships. I suspect within the next week most Stanford sports will move to either no crowds or suspension of play.
I've inquired with the mods and in the interim removed the warning. My personal preference is to err on the side of running up against the no-politics line, because this issue is so embedded in national politics/policy/governance that it's hard to 100% avoid that. I'm 100% percent committed to keeping name-calling, partisan attacks, etc., out. But if the facts are bad, the facts are bad. Let's just try to keep focused on posts that we think are informative and helpful for other readers, and someone will be back in touch soon with an update.
Thanks all.
