Playing a Mountain West team -- I like the idea of a bowl game in Los Angeles!
Regarding the Mountain West, I'm sure there are some traditionalists around here who look forward to a Stanford-San Jose State rematch, and Fresno State could be interesting even though they are long removed from their "anyone, any time, any place" mantra. Other than that I don't see much appeal for the Pac-12 beyond the paycheck.
On the other side of the coin, the new L.A. bowl seems like a big step up for the Mountain West.
I think net, this is a big improvement. The upgraded Vegas Bowl moving from Sam Boyd to the NFL stadium is a brobdingnagian upgrade, and it now will be slotted in front of the Holiday bowl, and now the LA Bowl (in an LA NFL stadium) will be slotted behind the Sun Bowl and is probably an upgrade from the old Vegas Bowl.
The old order was:
Rose
Alamo
Holiday
Foster Farms
Sun
Las Vegas
Cactus
The new order is:
Rose
Alamo
Las Vegas
Holiday
Foster Farms
Sun
LA
Cactus
The top 4 bowls are all pretty high quality bowl games.
