I have always heard that Polian was an excellent recruiter, and it's pretty hard to argue with the recruiting success we have enjoyed since he's been here, but I've always wondered what it was that caused him to be perceived as an excellent recruiter.Â
Is it his ability to impress the prospects and their parents? I find it hard to believe that Coach Shaw himself -- or a number of our other coaches -- can't do that pretty well. Is it his entusiasm for Stanford? Again, hard to believe he can top Shaw? Is it his connections wherever we need to have connections? Is it his ability to spot talent that others don't?
If anyone has specific, concrete info in this regard, I, for one, would be quite interested in knowing.
