Shaw's name has been mentioned in the speculation regarding the head coach jobs for the Broncos and the Jets. Shaw also has come up in the general context of college coaches who would be attractive to NFL teams.

My belief Shaw wouldn't be an option was based on an ESPN report that threw out possibilities for all current NFL HC vacancies.  I didn't see David Shaw's name mentioned with any of them, but did see Harbaugh, Fitzgerald and Kelly's name mentioned in that report.

I guess I should give some extra weight to Shaw being black. There are now only two black NFL Head Coaches - Mike Tomlin and Anthony Lynn - after Vance Joseph, Todd Bowles, and Steve Wilks were are fired. Ron Rivera is the only non-white HC in the NFC.
