The injuries may have been even more extensive than we knew. From the Buck/Cardinal newsletter, talking about the benefit of an extra week of rest.
Quote: Senior running back Bryce Love has been playing hurt for weeks like a warrior, and he certainly benefits, as do the duo behind him of senior Cameron Scarlett and junior Trevor Speights who were banged up. On the offensive line, junior Devery Hamilton and fifth-year seniors A.T. Hall and Jesse Burkett have been fighting day-to-day, while sophomore Foster Sarell has an extra week to continue his rehabilitation with a chance to play again. Senior wide receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside missed our Nov. 10 game versus Oregon State and now is on the mend.
On the defensive side of the ball, our linebackers have been hit hardest by injuries this season. Getting that break and extending the season should help fifth-year senior Joey Alfieri, senior Casey Toohill, senior Mustafa Branch and sophomore Thunder Keck get back onto the field. The Pac-12’s leader in pass breakups and pass defenses, sophomore Paulson Adebo was limited last week and welcomed the rest.
