Yes, and no.
1990 was a different come back. That was a back and forth game and a great one - Glynn Milburn and their great runner (White?) were both around 300 total yards. There was a fight between the teams early, it was "revenge for the play," the Cal fans were absolutely stunned at the outcome. (Never I have heard such thunderous silence!) And it was against Cal. Oh, and I was there!
OTOH, we were never 17 points down in that one. We were never getting blown out in that. We were not in a truly visiting atmosphere - probably 2:1 Cal fans as opposed to 50,000 to Terry last night. And in that game we only needed a blockhead passing play from Cal on third down to give us some more clock with the ball, a couple of 4th down conversions on the last drive, a moronic penalty on the Cal fans for rushing the field early II had forgotten - thanks d4cohn), a recovered onside kick, and a brain dead roughing penalty to pull it out. Last night we needed more.
Oh, and the Revenge of the Play teams weren't very good. We didn't go to a bowl, they sneaked into one IIRC. The two teams last night were quite good.
The other comparison for me is Greatest Upset. Hostile environment and had one great drive at the end, with a miracle 4th down conversion and an almost as miraculous fourth down TD, to win.
But even to mention last night in the same sentence with those two says that something really special happened. Let's beat the Domers and keep it going!
