Well, now that you mention it.  I think the bye free season tells you a lot about the Pac-12's outlook on ole blue as a prime time team.  The Pac-12 simply wants to limit the number of times Cal humiliates the conference in prime time in 2012.

No Thursday game, no game after thanksgiving and the Blue's site does not even show the Pac-12 championship game on the schedule.  So on almost every front it looks like all of the major players expect the team to be one of those not ready for Prime time teams in 2012.  Just hurry up and get out of the way seems to be the theme of the schedule.

You are right, the deeper look does make the Stanford schedule seem better.  :)
