It wasnt the stadium renovation that was the issue (it was mandated by the Regents due to seismic concerns). It was two other factors that caused the financial mess: the accompanying training facility and the bells and whistles that were added to the stadium remodel. The new Chancellor has agreed to take responsibility to pay for the seismic portion of the renovation in return for Edwards Stadium, which will be used for campus housing. At least that is my understanding based on reading articles in the local newspapers....Â
