My son's high school football league (West Coast Athletic League-WCAL) , has rescheduled all of this week's October 13-14 games to November 10-11.
Prior to today, November 3-4 was the conclusion of the WCAL football season. Due to the air quality issue, Nov 10-11 is now the final week of League play.
Post season play remains as previously scheduled, beginning Nov 17-18.
WCAL football is comprised of 8 teams.........
Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep (SF)
Saint Ignatius(SF)
Archbishop Riordan(SF)
Junipero Serra (San Mateo)
St. Francis (Mtn. View)
Bellarmine (San Jose)
Archbishop Mitty(San Jose)
Valley Christian (San Jose)
Thanks for the update, SFCF. There's a few of us on here connected to the WCAL. Go Bells...

Appreciate the update as of yesterday we were told there had not yet been a decision on the St Francis-Serra game. GO LANCERS!
My understanding is that the Stanford game is governed by NCAA rules about air quality. A friend told me they will only cancel if AQI is 200+ and that is highly unlikely at 8pm. If kickoff had been earlier in the day then it might have happened.

When I watched SHCP play at St. Francis two weeks ago, three Lancer players appeared to me to have good D1 potential. I think their jersey numbers were, 7, 42, and 52. Big, strong, athletes. I imagine more of the Lancers current roster has D1 playing potential, but in the one game I watched, those three stood out to me.

St. Francis almost always has a good team, and I really like Greg Calcagno, the coach. I went to SCU with him, and both of my sons were in class with his kids. I hope he does very well.
Right now, Valley Christian and Serra are the only undefeated teams in the WCAL, at 3-0.

During my time as a student at SI, Ray Calcagno was SI's football coach. He also served on the faculty as Business Math teacher. I took that class ,got to know him a little bit, and remember him as a good teacher and good guy. My friends who played football spoke well of him. I guess Ray is the uncle of the current St. Francis coach ? The Lancers current stadium is named for Ray's brother ?
