I think that how optimistic/pessimistic you tend to be about Stanford football is correlated with how long you have been associated with it. If your first exposure to it was the Harbaugh era you tend to be optimistic. If you lived through the 80's (when we had two winning seasons in ten years) and the Buddy/Wlat era you tend to be a bit of a Missouri resident, believing Stanford is going to be good when they demonstrate it.
