Now that I've taken the plunge, I guess I better say something about myself. I was co-term at Stanford from 1979 to 1985. The Cardinals' (yes, plural then) rally from 22 points down to win the Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl was a not insignificant factor in my decision to come west from NYC. Too bad Bill Walsh left for the 49ers before he had a chance to coach John Elway. :( I played Ultimate Frisbee at Stanford (hence, my moniker) - I'm convinced Dean Fred let me in because I had a high school varsity letter - and even won a national championship (though it was the British Championship in indoor Ultimate - our team was called the Cliveden Studs, named after the horse farm across the lane). Have followed Stanford sports since those student days. Memorable (though not always pleasant) moments I've witnessed in person include The Play (1982); the Gator Bowl (1986); Revenge of the Play (1990); Women's Final Four's in Knoxville (1990), New Orleans (1991), Los Angeles (1992), and Minneapolis (1995); and the men's basketball victory over Tim Duncan's Demon Deacons in the San Jose Regional (1997). Kids arrived on the scene in 1998 so attendance has waned significantly, though we did make it to the 2014 Rose Bowl. Nowadays, I attend a few football games and WBB games each year but try to follow developments on this board to get my Stanford sports fix. Looking forward to chiming in every now and then.
