I know Alabama football is a whole different planet run by the evil Saban, but didn't know about "blue shirting".  Is this something we've already discussed but call it by some other color of shirting?

In the case of this kid Brannon, blue shirting appears to mean being a non-recruited walk-on.

The part about Saban not visiting and no official visit to Alabama keeps him out of the "recruited walk on" category, and that leaves him eligible for general financial aid without automatically qualifying as a counter should he ever see the field.

As far as I understand things, the description of blueshirting in that article would not be allowed by the NCAA - though it becomes allowed when "on scholarship" means on financial aid that is supposedly not tied to athletics and available to any student.
