I went to basketball games when I was an undergrad at Marquette, just after the end of the Al McGuire era, when the team was still excellent. But somehow I never figured out what was up with any Stanford sports until years after I finished my degree. I don't think anyone I knew in the CS department went to games in any sport, except one master's student I knew who played women's rugby. I remember reading about The Play in the Daily.
A Stanford law student friend who had gone to USC as an undergrad organized a trip to a football game at one point, when USC was the visiting team. She took care of buying the tickets. I can't remember if that was before or after I graduated. Pretty sure it was the only Stanford sporting event I went to until years later.
