It needs respect if were gonna get better Bowl tie-ins (why don't we have a tie-in with the SEC? Why is our #4 slot tied in with a #5-#7 Big Ten team (such as a 5-7 Nebraska last year... Which UCLA lost to... OK never mind...)
Most of your gripes are related to something other than respect.
1. Game times.
This is more about geography than respect. The networks want to spread out the games as much as possible. Thus the push to later times, to weekdays, etc. Eastern teams aren't going to fill the latest slots, western teams are.
2. Better Rankings.
There might be something here, but UW making the playoff isn't going to help Stanford get ranked higher - or anybody else other than themselves. Don't think Oregon did it for Stanford two years ago.
At any rate, I think the effect is much smaller than most seem to believe. After all, every fan base in America thinks the media is biased against their team - and I don't think they can all be right.
3. Better bowl tie-ins.
Again, something to this but it is more about geography.
The SEC sits in the eastern bowl territory, and mostly plays bowl games in their home region. The Pac 12 sits in western bowl territory, and mostly plays bowl games in their home region - and where they don't it's western-ish (i.e. Texas).
Since both leagues are set to play home-ish bowls, there isn't overlap.
The lineups with lower finishing teams in other conferences is now mostly the Big Ten with the Holiday and Foster Farms bowls. That could be better.
