I know the class doesn't have as much star appeal as some others, but I really like Stanford's class and think several players are underrated.  Dorian Maddox a 2-star is a joke.  Donald Stewart is a 4-star caliber guy to me.  Pryts too.  But most importantly, including highly regarded walk-on Gutwald, Stanford landed 10 OL/DL.  That can't be underestimated.

I wanted to put together a matrix of how many other top programs offered Stanford commits, but don't have the time now. 

Also, if Demetris signs with Stanford, what would Stanford's class ranking be then?

Fully agreed that this class is terrific.  Covered pretty much all of the position groups (with C, FB, and ILB being the exceptions**), and it seems like we have some high 3-star guys that have the film and offer lists of 4-star guys.  And while great OL recruiting has become the norm, great DL recruiting hasn't necessarily been.  Getting Michael Williams/Bo Peek/Jovan Swann as interior guys and Schaffer (and maybe Harrington, if that's where he ends up) as DE types is just great.  I think Schaffer in particular is going to significantly overperform his recruiting profile. 

And I'm already salivating at the prospect of seeing Pryts enforce the middle of the field.  The coaches raved about him as much as (or more than) any other guy, it seems, and from watching a little of his film, they may have undersold him.  The guy has terrific instincts and hits like a Mack truck.

If Demetris pulls it off, I would imagine you'd see our class ranking tick up a little, but probably just a spot or two in the overall rankings.  Lots of the schools ahead of us have their fair share of 4- and 5-star guys. 

**It's worth noting that we addressed C last year (Chaffin), as well as ILB (Branch, as well as Barton returning from mission) and FB (Reagan Williams).  And I know the staff (and most services) originally saw Jordan Fox as an OLB, but Scout (at least) had him as an ILB, so perhaps he could slide inside if necessary.  FB is also seemingly in good shape for next year's class with Bailey McElwain seemingly now joining it, as well as Houston Heimuli returning from his mission.  You could argue that either K or P is missing, too, but Jet Toner is listed as a K/P, and we have pretty ridiculous depth at the kicking positions right now, especially with Riccitelli (as more of a pure K) walking on.  I'd thought Toner was more of a punter, but the coaches talked up his placekicking, so we'll see.  Either way, good problems to have.
