Very well said. Clearly, the admissions office and football team have found the right level of academic requirement and providing flexibility given an applicants exceptional talent outside of the classroom. They've put together a winning combination so far.
I don't think Shaw's 3 Rose Bowls in 4 years should force admission's hands one iota. They need to hold the line of integrity. I don't want Stanford to become a football factory. To CTCard's point, if they slackened the requirements, perhaps we don't have 100% graduation rates to boast of. If managing to a 95% GSR could guarantee a national championship, I'd consider it, but the truth is, there are no guarantees, so you stick to your foundational beliefs.
