What this program has accomplished over the last 6 years is quite extroadinary given the academic standards. Its tiresome from a fan's perspective (not to mention that of the players, parents, and coaches) that it is so difficult to get good students admitted and enrolled.   

I disagree.  I love that the admission standards are high.  That's part of what's special at Stanford: you have athletes that are genuinely good students, unlike at places like Duke and UDFG, where you have athletes who merely share a campus with good students.

Edit to add: Of course, one can take this point too far (and many on this board think that there was a time in the not-too-distant past when Stanford did take it too far).  But the current admissions standards seem entirely reasonable.
