FWIW, my understanding - that led to doubt about Robertson and Stanford - was reading of speculation Robertson wasn't coming because there was concern over his admission credentials.  Then, last week Robertson came out and said publicly that he needs 100 more points on his SAT to gain Stanford admission.  Adding, that he would re-take the SAT on Jan. 23 and pay for an expedited result so he could get it in a week, ostensibly enough time for him to visit Stanford before signing day if his score is high enough for admission. 

Now, he did also say that if he is admitted, it doesn't mean he will go to Stanford for sure.  Reading between the lines, he'll want to visit the campus if he is admitted, and if he likes it enough, then he would commit to Stanford.  That's all based on publicly available information on the interwebs.
