This was particularly interesting:

“There were a few schools that I was very serious about, and ultimately, Stanford was my number one choice for a long time,” Brewer said. “I had to wait on admissions to get into the school first, but they were the number one choice for a while.”

Turning that around, it may be that Brewer became Tara's choice for that scholarship quite a bit earlier than we may have realized, with a wait on admissions.

The rest of the article certainly makes her sound like a classic Stanford WBB player--academics high priority, puts the team first, etc.
