Long Beach Poly has been one of the top programs in California for the past several years and has famously sent more players to the NFL than any high school in America. People have always accused them of recruiting, because how else would so many great players end up there? But here's the thing -- they don't have to recruit. I was at the game last weekend, and I saw dozens of elementary school kids wearing their Pop Warner jerseys in the stands. From that young, they all know where they want to play. Any eighth grader with football aspirations in the Long Beach area wants to play for Poly (or Bosco, which isn't too far away). (By the way, Bosco beat Poly in an amazing game in the CIF semi-finals last season.)
