I was taught to double-space after every period early on in a "typing class" using hideously old (even in the day) manual type writers.  To this day that double bounce on the space bar is hard-wired into me and, yes, I'm slightly annoyed when HTML edits me to one space.  #@$%^& proto-fascist software engineers.

Oh me, too.  I never notice nor care if there's one space or two or three, and long as there's not no space.  I became a damn good typist that summer, but mainly remember the teacher having us type pictures every Friday.  What that was supposed to teach us was and remains beyond my comprehension.
