Unless a coach becomes abusive when drunk, I suspect most players have a pretty high tolerance for his inebriation in a quasi-social setting. These are young guys, the majority of whom, like young guys since the dawn of man, have had some experience with drinking too much and acting stupid. For the most part, they probably think it's funny, which is certainly how I viewed these things when I was 18 or 19. Around here, we tend to see the world, understandably, through grown-up-with-a-job-and-mortgage-colored spectacles. Teenagers don't.

What donors may have thought of Sarkisian's behavior might be different. Though, frankly, I doubt it. I'd guess the personal quality most U*S*C backers desire in a coach is winning football games, with everything else a distance second. And I don't think the Tro.jans are too unusual in that respect. I'd bet a lot of Stanford backers wouldn't have cared much if Harbaugh, following the Orange Bowl season, had done 25 shots of Jagermeister at a banquet and thrown up on John Hennessy's head.

Agree with Garvin here. I really think that the shock and outrage that many of the posters on this board seem to feel about Sark's behavior is not shared by many U$C players, fans, or donors.  Perhaps it should be, but I doubt if it is.
