In typical fashion, Shaw described it as a "lower leg injury." It was Martinez who told me it was a torn achilles. If that's actually correct and the tendon is torn, I can't imagine we'll see him at all this year. But I wouldn't be surprised at all if Martinez were wrong. In fact, that's probably the case. If it were torn, I'm sure Shaw would declare him out for the season.

As for redshirting, I'm pretty sure a medical redshirt is different from a normal redshirt. Theoretically, a player could take a normal redshirt his first year on campus, play a season, have a medical redshirt (if approved), and still have three more years of eligibility.
