I think the rankings are interesting because they reflect how the Stanford commits and targets are performing in the off-season.  It's probably redundant to follow the rankings if you also follow what happens at the 7-on-7 tournaments and at the Nike camps.  For example, the big moves in the Rivals rankings by Smith and Long were the direct result of those guys winning position MVPs against major competition at the Dallas and Oakland Nike camps.  Likewise, Robinson's move was the result of his performances in 7-on-7 tournaments.  (His performance at the LA Nike camp was just good, not great.) 


The downward moves of 20 spots are not all that relevant to watch.  Those happen mostly as the result of other guys skyrocketing up the charts, not as a result of bad performances by the Stanford targets.
