Let's put it this way. I have been a fan since before Walsh, since the late John Brodie days in the early 1970s. At this point I am on the verge of rooting for my lifelong team to lose. Ownership is so juvenile, unprofessional, and idiotic that they richly deserve a complete collapse and an absolute fan revolt.Â
How does management do that in the space of a single year? Take a 50 year fan and convert him to "I hope you lose--it would serve you right!"?Â
In reality, I can't quite bring myself to root against a 50 year attachment just because of the idiocy of current management, so what I am doing instead is just withdrawing all interest in professional football. The only advantage the pros ever had for me over the college game is the continuity and my ability to root for some core players or coaches over a longer period of time than just four years. Obviously, that is all gone.
My theory is that Jed York has a master plan. I think he finds BOTH Harbaugh and Baalke to be horrible and he wants both gone. He'll fire Tomsula and Baalke at the same time, once everyone understands that football is not baseball and Billy Beane's approach of hiring a warm body as the field general doesn't work in football. By then, the last vestiges of 49er near-greatness will be gone, and we will have stockpiled draft picks and cap space. At that point, Kaep will be gone, Baalke will be gone and Tomsula will be gone.
The 49ers will have 13 wins through the next three years. Jed Cohan York (who can't stand his parents and wants to embarrass them) will continue to be a disgrace and will sell the team in disgrace to Larry Ellison who will move heaven and earth to prove that he can get a championship quicker than Joe Lacob. that year, they will have 40 draft picks and $40 million in cap space and a new coach and GM with the #1 pick in the draft after their 1-15 regular season.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
