Wow. That is fantastic. I hope that this will put to rest the awful rumor that only rich kids can afford Stanford. I know that I came from a lower-middle class background and I was able to somehow make it through.

Though, to be fair, wealthier kids are afforded some benefits that help them get admitted, though I am sure that is taken into account by the admissions committee. I am currently chair of my department's graduate admissions committee, and admissions folks have to balance about 50 variables in constructing an entering cohort.
