Great analysis, as usual, VG. Â I am a bit surprised by your score prediction, however.
Is there any legitimate reason to think the Stanford guards can stay in front of Carter and Colson? Â I have a hard time seeing it - maybe Toni (maybe, if she is healthy). Â I see a lot of cross-overs for mid-range jumpers by A&M\'s guards (and they might even be more aggressive in going all the way to the hoop - they avoided that against Baylor with Griner lurking).
Couple other things: Â
1. Â Stanford cannot allow A&M to get those easy transition buckets (a couple lapses by Baylor led to ridiculously easy long passes/buckets by A&M).
2. Â Nneka and Chiney should dominate inside offensively . . . if the ball can be delivered to the post. Â Stanford must eliminate/limit TOs when getting the rock to the sisters.
3. Â If Carter and Colson provide anticipated harassment level, look for Kayla to bring ball up (she is so skilled for a 3/4, it\'s ridiculous).
4. Â Zone? Â Wouldn\'t be surprised to see Stanford use it on Sunday. Â [Actually, I\'ll be surprised if we don\'t see it at least a little].
Hope your confidence proves to be prophetic.
P.S. Â The UConn-Duke game reiterated a regrettable truth: Â when Maya Moore gets it going, UConn is unbeatable. Â At Maples earlier this year, she was very pedestrian. Â But I fear that had more to do with her than Stanford. Â Oh well, first things first - please beat A&M.
