IIRC, the first public precursor to the glove was debuted during a game at ASU, during the Buddy years.  It looked like a Van de Graaff generator with a hand cutout on top, sort of like a prop from the original Total Recall movie.  The announcers were beaming over how the device could neutralize the Arizona mid-day heat, as I think the game started at 12:30pm.

We lost by a score that was something like 62-24.
