Same with Stanford for all the guys transferring, including Lyons. If accurate, I would expect schools to deny waivers more often. What is the upside to consenting to lose someone who's anticipated to contribute?
Think of the down side of making a student stay who has fulfilled their academic requirements in good standing and now clearly wants to go somewhere else. What you likely end up with is someone who is likely disgruntled and resentful at being denied an opportunity to go somewhere else to pursue their future. Teammates surrounding that player have to start questioning: are the coaches really looking out for my best interest? or are they just going to force me to stay against my wishes? And will you even get the player's best performance on the field if he is truly disgruntled?Â
