I felt the same way when I read that article, but I do wonder if the article was written by a reporter who is linked to Michigan, or at least a midwestern regional reporter.  If so, those comments might have been simply a response to specific questions.  The old, "What stands out for you at Michigan?" "What do you think about Harbaugh and the tradition of quarterbacks at UM?" etc. 

I suppose we will find out how all this works out soon.

I think you're right SCSF1.  A lot of the Michigan feel could very well derive from the writer's presentation.  There was quite a bit more discussion of issues related to Michigan, and they were front-loaded in the article relative to the brief acknowledgement that Stanford is also in the picture.
