Dawkins may be the third-best coach in the last 40+ years, but he's the worst coach in the last 25 and that's what matters.  Montgomery built a program, Johnson sustained it, and Dawkins has ruined it.  Yes Trent left the cupboard bare when he left so maybe it was already going downhill, but that trend should have reversed itself 3-4 years ago under a good coach.

Dawkins is a great former player and a great representative of Stanford.  But he's a mediocre coach and - broken record here i know - Stanford should never tolerate mediocrity in anything.
