I agree with Hank.  Plus I don't believe you can survive without taking a QB most years.  Certainly, if you took a QB every other year, you could be in a position of having only two QB's on the roster (a redshirt junior and a redshirt freshman), which is untenable.  I think you probably want to have four QB's on the roster most times.  That means that assuming you are redshirting all your QB's you are taking a QB four out of five years, and more if there is attrition or position switches.

Because Crower isn't coming back, by not having taken a QB this last year we might be cutting it a bit close.  We will have three QB's on the roster (Hogan, Burns, Chryst) and a former QB (Dallas Lloyd) who could probably switch back if there was an emergency.  We will again be in a tight spot the following year, with Hogan leaving, as we will have Burns, Chryst and a true freshman (Costello?), who would hopefully redshirt.  Even the following year might be tenuous; if Chryst were to win the starting battle over Burns, the latter might chose not to come back for a fifth year or become a graduate transfer (in which case we would have Chryst, Costello (or other 2016 recruit), and a 2017 true freshman).

I have a feeling we will be taking a QB every year for the next few years out of necessity, unless we take two QB's one year (or take somebody who goes on a mission).
