1.  No one, including the coaches, needs to hear my view of what might make this team more effective.

2.  Almost nothing ever worked offensively, so any given play call will look bad in retrospect.
But “our strength” simply was not our strength.

3.  In basketball, some nights it’s a bathtub and the next night it’s a tea cup.  Last night it was a tea cup.

4.  The other team was better than I expected, and played better than almost anyone could have expected.  Bastards.

5.  My real sense of loss is in saying goodbye to three men who secured spots on my All Time Stanford Favorites team: Ben, Shayne, and Papa Yank.  I hope they return to our games whenever they can.

6.  Complacency is not a worry.

7.  Watch for Terrence Alexander.

8.  It was not the finish we wished for, but these guys finished.  They said that they would and they did.  That’s all I ask.

9.  Wherever your surf is this year, I hope it’s up.  You’re a cool group, too.

P.S.  If you've never heard Song for Zula by Phosphoresence, check it out on Spotify.  I'm not young nor hip but I love it.  And Publius, I will send you my updated Spotify list tomorrow.  Not a great year for music but with 16,000 songs out, twelve were bound to be worth sticking on your playlist. ..

Tell me more about Terrence Alexander and why you singled him out.  I have said my goodbyes to the incredible class of 2009 and am ready to be hopeful about the future.

I completely agree with #1 (just need to practice it more), #3 says it perfectly, I personally would add Gaff to #5 and I NEVER pass up is a new music suggestion so keep 'em coming.  Here is the official vid-I like this song although the lyrics make me a bit melancholy, which is good for today.

Interesting that you mentioned Gaffney for your Favorites lists. After I posted,  I started to make up my actual list.  My  two running backs ended up being Milburn and.  . .

Gaffney.

My favorites list doesn't necessarily reflect the best players at their positions.  Coy Wire, Jon Haskins. Alex Fletcher, and Randy Vataha all made it, but I'd never insist they were among the 22 best players ever.  Ditto Kailee Wong.  And I end up with Plunkett at QB.
