Another 2025 offer — Jazz Davidson, a 6-1 W from Oregon:

I'll be watching this thread for the 2026 offers. The Cardinal better get the best middle school players locked up.

Hmmm. Yep, maybe those middle schoolers. But really, I wonder how smart a move it is to make all these early offers. So many kids make massive strides to develop in their HS years -- if we have lots of early offers out, will we have room for offers to the late bloomers? Note Fran Bilibi as case in point. She didn't even start playing WBB until high school, and she would not have been on our radar for a super early offer.

The upshot of early offers is that it encourages recruits to take the academic steps necessary to qualify. The alternative is waiting until junior year, and having limited scope for guiding their academics. That being said, I don't know about offering freshmen. Stanford doesn't even count freshman year grades, I don't think, and as others point out, a lot can happen between freshman and junior years. Maybe you do that only for high floor players; Betts kind of makes sense since her sister is a commit and at 6'3" already, you know she is not going to shrink.

I haven’t seen Davidson play but I read a comment about her this summer while she was playing travel ball. It was very favorable on her skills
This could be it

As noted in the VB thread, Mendelson has reclassified as a 2022.

Any idea how Mendelson's reclassifying will affect her recruiting? I'm guessing it may be a negative to move up into the same class as Betts, but you never know...
I wonder if Stanford WBB is still recruiting her. I'd guess not, but I have no inside into. By counting scholarships you can see there won't be room in 2022 if Rice and Nivar both accept.

Stanford isn’t necessarily out of her recruitment but this looks to me like Texas Nebraska or the likes.
Stanford volleyball has an opening I strongly believe

if mendelson accepts a volleyball offer from stanford, then plays basketball as well, where does her scholarship come from / count against?

Would the NCAA allow, and would there be a reason to plan to play VB in year 1 through 4 and BB in years 2 through 5?

In the specific instance of Mendelson there might be a reason to do that. VB may need an elite MB in 2022 depending on whether or not L. Smith returns to form after knee surgery. Mendelson could practice with the BB team after VB is done. In 2023 Mendelson could play both sports with the scholarship coming from BB. In 2026 Mendelson would be the veteran post player with Betts having graduated.
The downside is Tara may find a better recruit to fill the post position. Plus IMO Tara is at the stage of her career where she would not be interested in a player who isn't full-time focused on basketball.
