Doesn\'t look like it.
At the rate we\'re going we\'ll hit 69 long before then.

Wake\'s chewing up clock and yards with decent runs against what looks like 2nd string defense. Â Eh.

We should have scored more points if not for the blown kicks. Â I mean, really? Â Those should have been automatic.
The two missed PAT\'s I suppose.
And of course the injury to Ryan Whalen.

Losing Ryan is terrible for us as Stanford alumni and for the Stanford football team. Â He\'s the #1 all-around receiver =\\

I am not a doctor, but I believe it is common practice to wait tell the swelling goes down before putting a cast on. However, a splint would have been put on a broken arm at the game to prevent further damage. It did not appear to me that Whalen had a splint on his arm. But, it was hard to tell because he was wearing a jacket.

Quote:Of course, Whalen could be getting the arm amputated and Jim Harbaugh would still list him as "day-to-day."
Classic!

Since JH will never tell, I quickly went home to catch the game on my DVR. Â Since the game was on ESPN2, I will guess that any reasonable ND staffer could do the same thing.
Here is what I noticed. Â The arm/elbow looked hyperextended during the play. Â It bent at the "right" place in the wrong direction, so that was a good thing.
When the trainers came to his side, they felt around his elbow and then intentionally bent his arm up. Â Again, I think that is a good sign.
As Whalen walked off the field he held his arm in a way that would give the elbow support. Â If he broke his arm his technique would have produced little pain relief or benefit.
So I will go with the hyperextension guess.
The team will need everyone for that key conference game against Oregon, so I hope Whalen is really day-to-day.

What did you guys think of the 4th quarter challenge?
Ok .... I admit I groaned when Harbaugh challenged the call in the 4th quarter. Â I wasn\'t surprised .... If you\'ve watched Stanford the last few years you knew he would challenge in a situation like that. Â
It\'s certainly not a big  deal and (thus I\'m burying this in a marginally related thread) but I wasn\'t a fan of that move.  It seemed a little Pete Carroll-like for my taste.  Again, no big deal but I\'m interested in other fan thoughts.

In 1938 Neville Chamberlain declared "Peace in our time", Superman first appeared in Action Comics, Seabiscuit beat War Admiral ....... and C.a.l last won the Rose Bowl.

I am with you Garvin.
Keeping Luck in the game deep into the 4th quarter would have been too much. Â Leaving the 1st team D in an effort to try to keep Wake Forest under 20 would have been too much.
Challenging a questionable call was fine IMHO. Â Those athletes were out there trying their best. Â The staff will undoubtedly review that film and show the players that they need to be ready at all times. Â They will call out anyone that appeared to play below their best or made bad reads, etc. Â
Therefore, I think it is definitely not too much for those players to expect the staff to stay focused and to give the players on the field their full support. Â And for me that full support would include challenging a call that they they believe should be overturned.

If the second team makes a play, they deserve to be recognized for that play. Â Hold the refs accountable, even if the game\'s conclusion has been decided already.

Moreover, the guy who got the fumble--Brent Etiz--is a walk-on. Causing a fumble would\'ve been the highlight of his career to date.
